Port Vale caretaker boss Michael Brown has said his side must win their last two games of the season to have a greater chance of surviving League One relegation.
Vale sit just inside the relegation zone but 4 points from safety with Walsall up next.
“We’ve got to win. We’ll certainly take the game to them,” Brown told BBC Radio Stoke.
“If we play like we can, with that endeavour, we can get a result and take it into the last game.
“Then at least we’ll have given ourselves a chance and, from there, it’s a case of ‘never say never’.”
A loss would confirm Port Vale’s relegation to League 2 since their promotion in the 2012/13 season.
However, if Gillingham beat Northampton and Bury don’t lose away at Southend on Sunday , the Valiants are down irrespective of their results.
Port Vale have only lost once at Walsall in their last 6 meetings at the Banks’s Stadium.
