Tottenham suffered their 6th FA Cup semi-final defeat after they lost 4-2 to Chelsea.

A terrific and frantic game saw Chelsea take the lead after just 5 minutes as Willian bent a free-kick past Hugo Lloris to take hold of the game.

However, Spurs’ Harry Kane levelled the tie with a terrific header to set up an enthralling 75 minutes.

Heung-min Son conceded a penalty late in the half as Willian got his second from the spot to give the Blues a half-time lead.

Tottenham came out of the traps in the second half the better side and deservedly equalized again after a sublime Christian Eriksen cross saw Dele Alli put the ball past Thibault Courtois.

Chelsea substitute Eden Hazard fired home 23 minutes later to retake control of the match before Nemanja Matic fired in a thunderbolt to seal the tie for Antonio Conte’s men 10 minutes from time.

It will be Chelsea’s first FA Cup final for 5 years. Of the last 6 times in the final, the London side have won 5 times.

An extra time winner from Alexis Sanchez saw Arsenal through to the final of the FA Cup for the 3rd time in four years.

After a goalless first half, Sergio Aguero chipped City into the lead just past the hour mark to put his side ahead.

Nacho Monreal latched onto an audacious Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cross to poke home Arsenal’s equalizer 10 minutes later.

Pep Guardiola’s men can count themselves unlucky after Yaya Toure hit the post before Fernandinho’s headed effort crashed off the bar late on.

Neither side scored from then on as the game went into extra-time.

Sanchez got what proved to be the winner after he pounced on a lose bouncing ball to smash Arsenal 2-1 ahead inside the penalty area on bang on 100 minutes.

Fabian Delph squandered a three-on-two chance for the Sky Blues towards the end of extra time meaning Arsenal held out for a 2-1 victory.

Arsenal will go for a record 13th FA Cup.

 

The last time Chelsea and Arsenal met in the final of the competition saw the Gunners walk away with the trophy as they won 2-0 in the 2001-02 season.
