Lincoln promoted back to the Football League

Lincoln City have gained promotion back to the Football League after a 6-year absence.

A Terry Hawkridge brace was enough to see off Macclesfield 2-1 to claim the league title and thus promotion.

Danny Cowley’s men now sit an unassailable 7 points clear at the top of the National League in a season that featured a historic FA Cup run which saw the Imps reach the quarter-finals beating Ipswich and Burnley before bowing out to Arsenal.

It is the first time Lincoln have finished in the top half of the fifth tier since they were relegated from League Two in the 2010-11 season.
