Bayern Munich have announced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will be out for the rest of the season after breaking his metatarsal during their Champions League loss to Real Madrid.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated: “Manuel Neuer has injured himself badly, he will be out for eight weeks.”
The world cup winner, who underwent minor surgery on his left foot last month, will not have to undergo surgery again, the club have revealed.
Sven Ulreich is set to replace Neuer in goal. Ulreich has yet to make his Bayern debut.
The German international will now miss the remainder of the Bundesliga season and Bayern’s DFB Pokal semi-final clash with Borussia Dortmund next week.
