For all those who missed today’s action, the English Football League saw some dramatic action once again as we enter the final run in of the season. From relegation woes to flying pigs, Good Friday had it all.
FLYING PIGS

Coventry City and Charlton Athletic players were taken off the pitch prior to kick-off after little pink toy pigs were thrown onto the pitch again. The same action occurred in the reverse fixture. Both teams are unhappy about how their owners are running their clubs.
In a must-win game, the Sky Blues drew with Charlton meaning they are relegated to fourth tier of English Football for the first time since 1959. They were playing in the Premier League in 2001.
WORRY FOR WIGAN
Despite Nick Powell coming on to score a hat-trick to give Wigan a 3-2 win over Barnsley, relegation rivals Bristol City beat QPR 2-1 with Blackburn grabbing a huge 1-0 away win at Nottingham Forest. It leaves the Latics 5 points from safety with 4 games remaining. They face title favourites Brighton, Cardiff, and promotion chasing Reading and Leeds.
ANOTHER CONTROVERSIAL TWIST

The race for the Premier League was hit by controversy again. A bizarre ending to the Huddersfield-Preston game saw a 96th minute penalty given to Huddersfield after a melee in the box between two players. The initial penalty was saved but Collin Quaner put in the rebound to give the hosts a 3-2 win.
This meant even though Brighton beat Wolves 2-0, they could not have clinched promotion today. One more win would do this, however.
Elsewhere second-placed Newcastle conceded in injury time to draw 1-1 with play-off hopefuls Leeds.
ORIENT ALL THE WAY DOWN

From almost being promoted to the Championship in 2014, Leyton Orient are on the brink of dropping out of the Football League completely drawing 2-2 to Luton. Orient have only won 9 times in 42 games, scoring 41 goals and conceding a hefty 75. The club are now an unassailable 9 points from safety, theoretically it’s not over but realistically it is the end of the road for Orient. Nevertheless, A sad story.
PLAY-OFF RACE HOTS UP

Fulham’s 10 man efforts against Norwich saw them win 3-1 but it was ultimately unwarranted as Fernando Forestieri’s late strike saw Sheffield Wednesday beat Cardiff 1-0 to stay within the play offs.
